What are Preloaded Apps?

Preloaded apps are exactly what they sound like: mobile apps that device manufacturers (think Apple and Samsung) install on devices before they sell them to customers.

Preloaded apps on iPhone devices include Messages, Safari, Podcasts, and Maps. Preloaded apps on Samsung devices include Amazon, Android Pay, and Google Chrome.

Preloaded apps have become a viable user acquisition strategy in recent years. By working with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), app developers can get their apps and/or games into the hands of additional users, boosting brand awareness and potential revenue.

While most preloaded apps are added at the factory level, modern technology allows advertisers to add their apps to only the specific devices that show the most promise.
